Brennan is sick and tired of you being sick and tired

Flu season is almost over, and that means that allergy season is coming soon. But that doesn’t make it okay to sneeze at, near or in my direction.

No, it’s not okay. It has never been okay and it never will be okay. Every year around this time, I’m forced to tolerate the unsanitary and lazy people who either refuse to receive a flu shot (free at the Wellness Center) or are incapable of practicing basic hygiene.

It’s time for it to stop. It’s not that hard to JUST BE CLEAN. Wash your hands constantly and consistently, and cover your mouth and nose when you cough and sneeze and stay home when you’re sick.

I’m tired of being surrounded by sick people, I have to keep away from you whilst trying to dodge your 100-mile-per-hour coughs that come hurdling in my direction. STOP THAT.

And I’m not the only one,  ten out of the 11 people polled also agree with the following statement: “People who don’t cover their mouth and nose while sneezing or coughing are lower than dirt.”

Strangely, 14 out of 17 people have also been observed not covering when sneezing or coughing.

Also, while we are on the topic of keeping your mouth closed, there are a couple things I’d like to address. Yawning. Sure you’re tired. So am I. And you definitely can’t yawn with your mouth closed, although scientists are working on a solution for this as we speak.

That, however, does not mean people still need to see the entire massive expanse of your mouth. Take one of those things called “hands” and cover it up! Easy as that!

Furthermore, chewing, a byproduct of eating, is an essential life function. But you know what isn’t essential is doing it with your mouth open.

It’s not that difficult, I mean is it? Is it really so difficult to close your mouth when you eat and cover it when you cough and yawn that you can’t render me this one simple courtesy?

Is it really that hard?
