Spring Activites
The weather is starting to become warmer and the sun is shining, as spring is in the air. Along with the good weather, spring brings group outings and hanging out with friends.
So if you need help answering the age old question, “What should we do?” then we are here to help. Here is a list of fun things to do with your friends in the D.C. and Maryland area.
Outside Activities
Located in Rock Creek Regional Park in Rockville, Maryland Go Ape Treetop Adventure Park is a zip-line obstacle course in the trees. Go Ape features tons of fun routes for you to climb and get in touch with our primate ancestors.
Price ($$): Tickets for climbers ages 10-15 are $38 each, ages 16+ are $58.
- Biking the C&O Canal or the tidal basin
Biking is a great group activity that will keep you in shape. There are tons of free places to bike in the area. Try biking (or hiking) along the historic C&O canal and be one with nature. If that’s not your thing, try biking around the tidal basin in Washington to see the monuments we love from a different angle.

Brookside Gardens is a huge 50-acre outdoor garden located in Wheaton, Maryland. The gardens are free, however, with $5 and a reservation you can have a guided tour. From April 26 to September 17, Brookside Gardens have a fun and interactive live butterfly exhibit.

Gaithersburg actually has a local water park! Water Park at Bohrer Park has multiple pools, water slides, inflatables, and even a fun “tumble bucket” which fill with water to spill on everyone. If you get hungry, there is even a Boardwalk Fries!
Price ($): Gaithersburg residents: Any day $5.75. Nonresidents (Monday – Thursday) $10. Weekend (Friday – Sunday) $16
Montgomery County is home to many parks you can go to for free to spend a day with your friends. One activity many teenagers overlook is a simple picnic. Prepare food before you leave and eat it together in the park. Don’t forget a blanket for the ground!

Cities to Explore and Shopping
Downtown Silver Spring is a lively area with lots of restaurants to eat at and shops to shop at. This is a good place to go when you don’t really know what you want to do, but you still want to get out of the house to explore.

Downtown Bethesda is home to nearly 200 restaurants and tons of fun things to do. In Bethesda you can shop-till-you-drop, eat you heart out, or just simply enjoy yourself in a beautiful place.

Tyson’s Corner Center is home to hundreds of stores and restaurants for guaranteed hours of entertainment.

Indoor Activities
ZavaZone is a hodge-podge of trampolines, obstacle courses, climbing, and ziplines. ZavaZone takes pride in being indoors as the weather is always “fun and sunny.” ZavaZone has three different “zones,” Jump Zone, Adventure Zone, and Vertical Zone. Jump Zone has trampolines to jump on, with games like dodge ball and battle beam. Adventure Zone is the course area of ZavaZone, this zone includes the high ropes course, zip line, parkour course, and other fun adventures to go on. Lastly the Vertical Zone is home to climbing activities like fun takes on rock climbing and drops.
