Prom is a week away, buy your tickets before it’s too late!
Prom is on it’s way! Prom will be on Friday, April 28 from 8pm-midnight at the Inn at Brookeville Farms. The tickets are $50 and will be on sale until April 21.
This year’s theme is a masquerade ball, so make sure you dress up in your best ball attire and bring those masks.
The prom committee has been planning for this special event for a long time, “we started planning for the theme and venue last year,” junior Fiona Franke said. “At the beginning of this year we looked at masks and decorations. We also visited the venue to start planning the set up.”
Deciding the theme and venue was a big decision that everyone needed to be involved in. “We narrowed it down to two places, Brookeville Inn and Glen Echo and then we had a vote,” Class of 2018 adviser Katie Pesce said. The vote was open to juniors and sophomores last year in a google forms document and “the Inn seemed to be what everyone wanted,” Pesce added.
Watkins Mill High School has never had prom at the Inn before, so this year’s prom will be a new experience for everyone attending. The decorations the committee chose will highlight the theme and make the space magical. “To go with the masquerade theme we got flower vines and fairy lights. We are also going to get lanterns,” Franke said. There will also be a photo booth at prom for you and all your friends to take pictures.
The committee has almost everything ready for prom, “The only things we still need to decide on are tables and food,” junior Briteny Berry said. “We’re trying to figure out what appetizers to have and how many people will be dancing the whole time versus sitting.”
Prom is special event that some people look forward to for years. Make sure you are staying safe before, during, and after prom. You wouldn’t want to ruin anyone’s special night or your own for that matter.
