Lakeforest Mall is too small. Montgomery Mall is too crowded. Wheaton Plaza and Arundel Mills are too far! So where can you go to shop, eat and enjoy a great time with friends and family?

The Clarksburg Outlets.

You’re probably thinking right now, “Clarksburg? Our rival school?” but wait. The Clarksburg Outlets are a family-friendly place filled with nice stores, nice people and a nice playground. Many Watkins Mill High School students have accepted jobs at the outlets and are enjoying them.

“It’s a really nice area and it’s pretty convenient if I want to shop during breaks. There’s also a food court and I also have friends who work at other stores,” junior Destiny Tiburcio said. “I really like my coworkers, my managers are pretty chill, and I just like the environment in general.”

Tiburcio works at Ralph Lauren. “My friend asked me if I wanted a job because his job was still hiring… so his manager texted me and set up a phone interview and I got the job that same day.” Tiburcio gets a 60 percent discount off her work clothes and a 40 percent discount if she chooses to shop at Ralph Lauren.

Another Wolverine who works at the Clarksburg Outlets is junior Sakeenah Nasser. She works at Calvin Klein and was working opening weekend. “It was really busy, there was a lot of putting all the clothes back to where they were because people are ignorant and throw everything around. It was full hands on deck [that] weekend.”

Nasser found her job at the job fair and she really enjoys her coworkers. ”I love my working environment, everyone who works at my job is very positive and we have a lot of fun,” Nasser added. She also gets a 40 percent discount overall and 50 percent discount for work clothes. Nasser said, ”My favorite store other than Calvin Klein, I would say is Tommy Hilfiger because I get a discount there too.”

You don’t have to work at the outlets to be an expert on the stores though. English teacher Christen Dimmick has been to the outlets a total of six times so far. “I have purchased a whole bunch of clothes from Under Armor because I have three sons and that’s all they wear. I have also bought things from Express for myself and a Michael Kors bag and a bunch of Christmas presents.”

The outlets provide many opportunities for students, including jobs, entertainment, and relaxation. Whether you’re buying clothes, working at the outlets, or playing at the park, you’re bound to have a great time.
