Lady ‘Rines softball plans to swat Hornets tonight at Damascus
Lady ‘Rines softball looks to take on the Damascus Hornets at Damascus tonight at 5:15pm after showing signs of improvement throughout the past week, notching their first win of the season before losing back-to-back games.
The Lady ‘Rines lost to the Einstein Titans in a tough game, losing 4-15 on Saturday. Our team put up a good fight but did not manage to pull of a win against the Titans.
“I feel like we as a team worked together and we’re slowly building confidence,” senior Aarohi Brahmbhatt said. The team has been making improvements all season. The team struggled offensively, unable to put runs on the scoreboard. Einstein’s pitching was a challenge for our Lady ‘Rines and the Wolverines were not able to make contact.
The ladies had a close game with Churchill, losing the game 9-11 on April 27. The ‘Rines felt they could have taken the win but needed to focus on the little things “[We] definitely [need to work on] fielding and knowing where we are supposed to go because we are a little confused,” freshman Jamie Carmichael said. The Wolverines came out with some early heat and took the lead early but could not hold on defensively.
The team won their first game of the season last week, beating the Wheaton Knights at home 21-7 on April 25. The ladies finally pulled it together and their potential was on full display. The team had a complete game and dominated all through out. The ‘Rines were able to hit and field the ball with success for the whole game it it showed on the scoreboard.
“We communicated a lot more which is one thing that brings down sometimes but during that game it helped us out,” Brahmbhatt added.
Communication has been an issue for the team all season and it looks as if the ‘Rines have finally found a solution.
