Sports Wrap-Up: September 11, 2019
Girls Volleyball
Girls varsity volleyball team played a hard fought game Monday against Springbrook. They fell short by just one set with a score of 3-2. The girls played their hardest all the way to the very end, not giving up until the clock struck zero.
“As a team we all played well,” senior Melanie Torres said.
The girls next game will be today, September 11 against Einstein High School. This will be their first home game of the season.
“I feel excited, hopefully people come out,” Torres added. The junior varsity game is at 3:45 pm and varsity starts at 4:45.
Field Hockey
The girls’ varsity and junior varsity field hockey team suffered another loss against the Whitman Vikings Tuesday, September 10. The varsity girls lost 5-0.
“We need to work on consistency showing up and ready to play,” varsity field hockey coach Melissa Brigham said.
The varsity girls were disappointed in this loss but plan to fix their mistakes and come back strong next game.
“We need to work on looking up… and making smart passes,” senior Clarisse Gonzales said.
The junior varsity also suffered a loss despite their efforts. the girls played aggressively but Erin Yates said.
The girls are excited and plan to work on their mistakes to play Gaithersburg Trojans on Thursday, September 12 at Gaithersburg High School JV at 5:30 and varsity at 7:00.
“I look forward to hopefully keeping [the] score more even and making a goal,” sophomore Ryleigh Waters said.
