Sports Wrap Up: April 11

Softball

The Lady ‘Rines continued their win streak against the Wheaton Knights last Monday, April 9, at Wheaton. The Rines beat the Knights 24-15 and plan on doing the same tomorrow against Poolesville. Senior Jessie Monegro said a big factor in their win was that “Everyone on the team made contact,” when batting. The ‘Rines face the Poolesville Falcons tomorrow April 12 at 3:45 pm in the den, make sure you come out and support!

Baseball

After the bus arriving late which gave the team only 10 minutes to warm up, ‘Rines baseball was able to push to an overall winning score of 6-2 against the Wheaton Knights. Thanks to a 2-run home run by senior Kevin Finn to give the ‘Rines an early lead and a shutout pitching performance by senior Lucas Richards the team was able to stay one step ahead of the Knights for the whole game. The boys play their next game tomorrow, April 12, against the Poolesville Falcons at 3:45 pm at home, so come out and support Watkins Mill baseball. Go ‘Rines!

Boys Lacrosse

Boys lacrosse lost to Blake High School yesterday, April 10 by a score of 8-2. The Wolverines played a good game overall with a strong defense, but couldn’t match the Bengals offensively. Although the team didn’t come out on top, they look to learn from this loss and come back stronger next game. The ‘Rines play again tomorrow night, April 12, at 7:15 pm at home against the Damascus Hornets. Come out and support your ‘Rines as they look to pick up their second win of the season!

Girls Lacrosse

Girls lacrosse fell yesterday, April 10 to Blake High School. The ‘Rines battled all game, coming back from a 1-9 deficit in the first half, bringing the score all the way back to 11-13 in the second half. But in the end the Bengals pulled away, beating the ‘Rines 20-13. “We tried are hardest and did very [well],” said junior Madison Aguilar. The ‘Rines look to bounce back against the Damascus Hornets tomorrow, April 12, at Damascus High School at 7:00pm, so come out and support!
