MVA brings driver’s permit test to Watkins Mill

Ready…Set…GO!

Watkins Mill’s future drivers are on their marks and are starting to head out onto the road.

The Motor Vehicle Administration is letting eligible students take their permit testing on November 14 at 12:30pm in the Watkins Mill media center. Sign up on the school website or get a permission form from the main office, which has to be turned in today.

The MVA contacted Watkins Mill to help make the permit testing easier for eligible students. Instead of waiting in those long dreadful lines at the MVA, students can take it at school and be done within 45 minutes.

“It’s much more convenient  for students to take the test here,” business manager Julie Broyles said. Another perk of having your permit is that it can serve as legal identification if needed.

The test is “basic knowledge,” junior Brenda Galimberti said. Galimberti is currently studying for the permit test and has signed up to take her permit test at Watkins Mill.

“I was initially really nervous but now I am actually excited,” junior Abigail Patterson said. The test consists of 25 questions, of which you need to get 23 correct to pass the test. Students can get the Driver’s Guide from Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration at any MVA to help them prepare for testing. Passing the permit test is the easy part, but the responsibility that comes with it is hard for some.

Some new drivers are nervous to get out onto the road, especially with all the dangers that come with driving. “I am most nervous about the other drivers on the road that are more dangerous than I am,” senior Maddie White said. New drivers should practice driving with a licensed driver as much as they can to get ready for driving on their own.
