Gamer vents about high prices for basically same games

Why? Why do these game developers do this to us? Every year, every darn year, the same game is just re-released in a new box. It just sucks if you’re someone like me who enjoys playing the game, but knows if I’m not up to date then the experience is trash.

Let me backtrack a bit and catch those non-gamers up to speed. I am talking about the gaming industry and their infatuation with money. Every year the big name brand games such as Madden, Call of Duty, or NBA 2K (just to name a few) come out with a new game. You may think that’s an amazing, new and improved experience every year right? Wrong, in actuality it sucks.

First off, it costs $60, and every year another $60. But that wouldn’t be so bad–because you know money ain’t a problem if you followed my tutorial on how to flip things–if it wasn’t the same game as last year. The game developers just re-release their game they made a year prior for the same price. It’s smart for the big corporations because that’s more money they know people will spend on their game, sadly.

Now of course it is not the identical game as last year. There are some improvements in minor details or changes in characters or quality of the picture. But the overall feel and play of the game is the same. I will admit though, every once in awhile they will introduce a new concept or change the game engine so that it runs smoother but that’s rare.

I think all games should be like my all time favorite, GTA V. This game is unique in that it was released 2013, and it still receives updates and maintenance from its developers that is FREE. I’ve been able to get hundreds of hours of entertainment through that game all because they focused on making it great instead of releasing a “new” game next year.

Is it so hard to ask for a game that will last me years such as GTA V? I don’t think so, because there is one easy way for the developers to earn money without releasing new games. It has its pros and cons, but if it means a game that lasts years, I’ll take it. That improvement is in-game purchases. Maybe I’ll do something on that later.
