Senior Reflection: Taylor Dawson

Taylor Dawson is a very joyful woman who seeks positivity through any and every situation. She enjoys being active within her school and loves dancing on the poms team!

I’ve been pushing this off as much as I could because honestly, I don’t know how to wrap up the last four years of my life into just one article.

Coming in as a freshman, not knowing what to expect was definitely a big change for me. Without having any prior writing experience, I eventually enrolled in a journalism class. I had this class with my brother and my best friend so you can imagine the amount of work I got done…

Just kidding, I was always on top of my work, especially in Journalism class because I loved my teacher. Mrs. Confino has had that second-mother influence on me since the day I met her. If you know me now, you know I’m a very loud, outgoing and energetic person once I’m comfortable with my surroundings. Confino was the first teacher to bring out that side of me.

For the past four years, Confino has been a part of my life every single day, well, for the days I was at school of course. She has seen me in every mood imaginable, she laughed at me when I came to her crying about a mouse running across my hand (don’t even ask…), she has yelled at me numerous times for not having articles in on time, knowing I’ve had weeks to get them done (I’m a pain in her butt). She feeds me, and most importantly, she has always motivated me to be my best self and has spoken nothing but facts!

Throughout high school, I’ve joined as many sports teams and clubs that I was interested in (mainly to build a great college application), but also to make many memories and participate in new opportunities. Starting off in journalism and being encouraged by Confino to continue being a part of the Newspaper staff was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Newspaper class was filled with so many different kinds of people and groups from all over the school. These people have left such a positive impact on me, friendship-wise. Everyone got along and we all actually looked forward to coming to this class. How often does someone look forward to attending a class?

Now that senior year is coming to an end, I can look back and say I’m proud of the person I’ve become over time and I am so excited for the next chapter of my life. Time flew by quicker than I can even say, even though these past four years felt slow. Now, I’m ready to walk across the stage in less than a month.

I’m so glad I went to Watkins Mill. Despite all the hate this school gets from outside of the community, we’re all one big ‘Rine family! I wouldn’t have such great friends like Annie and Lauren and amazing teachers such as Mr. Johnson and Mrs. Confino, without going here.

If there’s one thing I can say about high school it’s that, it’s NOTHING and I repeat NOTHING like High School Musical.

TayDizzle signing out! *throws up a peace sign and sticks tongue out*
