Varsity swim and dive looks to take down the Damascus Hornets this Saturday, January 21. The team is coming off two tough losses to the Rockville Rams and the Blake Bengals and look to pick up win number two of the season.

The team faced the Rockville Rams in a make-up meet yesterday, January 18. Despite a valiant effort by Watkins Mill, the team wasn’t able to pull out a win, losing their second in a row. The team looks to learn from these past two meets, and improve on key points to take down the Hornets.

‘Rines swim and dive took on the Blake Bengals last Saturday, January 14. The team battled on all sides, but wasn’t able to pull out a team win for the meet.

The team is currently 1-1-1, and looks to continuously improve as the season goes on. “We all have different things we need to improve on individually to make the team shine as a whole,” senior Nathan Wright added. “I need to work on my starts and my flip turns.”

Junior Muhammad Ba said, “I look to decrease my time in the relay, and also get more points with my diving.”

The team is made up of lots of young talent with only five seniors on each side, boys and girls. “We have good young divers, and our sophomores and juniors are looking really good so far,” Wright added. “We have a good young core.”

Look for this team to improve times and scores as the season goes on, and be in playoff run come the end of the season.

Come out and support our varsity swim and dive team this Saturday, January 21 at 1:45pm, at the Gaithersburg Aquatic Center as they look to take down the Damascus Hornets.
