The Watkins Mill High School Preschool lab is a fun half-day program focusing on kindergarten readiness while learning through fun playful activities and hands-on crafts.
“It’s taught by people who want to become teachers,” says headteacher Dr. Melissa Cloyd. This program also allows teenagers to learn about the development in a child’s mind. This not only benefits the kids in the program but also benefits the teenagers who are also learning for their future careers.
Let’s be real here: kids learn better through play. It helps develop their cognitive development in imagination, problem-solving, emotions, and relationship building. Signing up a child here allows them to express themselves while unlocking important life skills.
Student teachers plan for each lesson while making sure students get each of the core developmental skills in English, writing, math, and science. Fun songs and cool books go along with each lesson, keeping children entertained.
“Child development is a place where you can grow and build friendships with your peers and make an encouraging environment for the kids,” said senior Kailey Meadows, who has been taking the class for two years.
Signing children up for the Watkins Mill High School Preschool Lab gives them an amazing opportunity to grow and prepare them for success! For more information, you can contact Melissa Cloyd at [email protected].
