Sports Wrap-Up: May 8-12
Sophomore Kamar Sutherland finished in second place in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles at the County Championship.
Boys Volleyball
The ‘Rines played in the opening round of the playoffs against the Wootton Patriots on Monday, May 8. The ‘Rines traveled to the home of the Patriots, but unfortunately fell in a 3-0 loss.
Congratulations to the ‘Rines for fighting hard to make the playoffs this season.
Softball
The Lady ‘Rines went to bat against the Rockville Rams in the Regional Quarterfinal on Thursday, May 11. The game ended in a tough loss of 12-0, ending the Lady ‘Rines’ season.
Congratulations to the Lady ‘Rines for growing as a team this season and fighting hard in the playoffs.
Baseball
The ‘Rines traveled to Rockville for the Regional Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 11 at the home of the Rockville Rams. The game ended in a 25-1 loss.

Boys Lacrosse
The ‘Rines went head-to-head with the Rockville Rams in the Regional Quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 10. Unfortunately the ‘Rines came away with a 19-3 loss, spelling the end of their season.

Girls Lacrosse
The Lady ‘Rines faced off against the Magruder Colonels in the Regional Quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 10 at the home of the Colonels. The game unfortunately ended in an 18-4 loss, meaning the Lady ‘Rines were eliminated from the playoffs.
Congratulations to the Lady ‘Rines for fighting hard this season and working well as a team to succeed.
Track & Field
The ‘Rines competed in the MCPS County Championship on Wednesday, May 10. Five ‘Rines competed in the finals and one ‘Rine finished on the podium in two events.
- Sophomore Samuel Koiwood finished in 7th place in the 200 meter dash and 8th place in the 100 meter dash.
- Sophomore Madison Medley finished in 8th place in the shot put.
- Sophomore Kamar Sutherland finished in 2nd place in the 100 meter hurdles and 2nd place in the 300 meter hurdles.
- Senior Michael Safo finished in 5th place in the triple jump and 9th place in the long jump.
- Senior Ella Rishell finished in 8th place in the 400 meter run.
