Watkins Mill High School hosted its red-carpet-themed prom last Friday, April 29 at Argyle Country Club from 8 to 11 pm. Juniors and seniors wore their best dresses and suits to hit the dance floor, eat food, and make life-long memories.
Seniors Joshua Derosier and Ram Leigh Cabahug were announced as Prom King and Queen near the end of prom, respectively. Students danced all night to a variety of songs, from party classics like “Cha-Cha Slide,” “Cupid Shuffle,” and “Wobble” to Latin dance songs like bachata and salsa. Hip-hop and rap songs ignited the dance floor with excitement and hype, setting a high-energy tone for the night.
Those who did not dance spent time chatting at the tables and eating from the student banquet, which offered a menu of caesar salad, roasted potatoes, green beans, angel hair alfredo, chicken piccata, cookies, brownies, and drinks including water, lemonade, and soda.
Prom serves as the last high school milestone for seniors before graduation, concluding the year with cheerful memories and time spent with close friends.
