Boys Soccer

#11 sophomore Zikani Munthali celebrates scoring a goal

Varsity boys soccer hosted the Magruder High School Colonels on Tuesday, October 12, but three early goals from the away team means the ‘Rines came away with a 6-0 loss.

Varsity also traveled to the Paint Branch Panthers on Thursday, October 14, coming away with a 2-1 victory. More goals from senior Assou Kowo and junior Joel Tchalim put varsity on 2-2-7 on the season (wins-ties-losses).

Junior varsity started off the Colonel double-header with a nail-biting 3-2 victory, snapping the Colonel’s seven-game-win streak. A volley from freshman Derek Cabezas, a cool finish from freshman Anderson Lopez, and a sublime header from freshman Zikani Munthali had the home fans celebrating. This was JV’s final game of the season so make sure to congratulate the players if you see them.

After a weather postponement against the Northwest Jaguars, the second half of varsity’s game will be completed tonight at the home of the Jaguars. Please come out to cheer on the away team for some intense second half action.

Girls Soccer

Varsity’s game away against the Magruder High School Colonels was canceled and will not be made up.

Varsity traveled away on Thursday, October 14, to take on the Paint Branch Panthers. The game ended in a 1-0 loss after a hard-fought battle. A defensive matchup forced goalkeeper Lisbeth Castillo to make some great stops.

Make sure to support the home team for Varsity’s last game of the season against the Churchill High School Bulldogs on Wednesday, October 20.

 

Football

#2 senior Devin Breckenridge outruns 5 Gaithersburg Trojans

Varsity capped off a spirited Homecoming Week with a fourth quarter shootout against the Gaithersburg High School Trojans. Spiraling passes from senior quarterback Kamarr Louissaint and some spectacular catches from seniors Devin Breckenridge and Ty’john Kaine closed the game to a seven-point gap, but a Trojan touchdown at the death gave the ‘Rines a 26-13 loss.

Make sure to watch the doubleheader tomorrow against the Kennedy High School Cavaliers. Junior varsity starts at 9am and varsity starts at 1pm

 

Field Hockey 

Field Hockey celebrating the win against Kennedy High School Cavaliers.

The ‘Rines hosted Kennedy High School Cavaliers on Monday, October 11. The whole game was a tough fight to put up, the determination of the girls kept the ‘Rines in the lead. The game ended with a win of 1-0.

Field hockey hosted Clarksburg Coyotes on Thursday, October 14. The game ended as a tough game with a loss of 5-0.

Make sure to go out and support field hockey, on Monday, October 18 as they travel to play Seneca Valley High School Screamin’ Eagles and come out to their Tuesday senior night against Wheaton at the den!

 

Volleyball

Junior varsity started the week off traveling to take on Kennedy High School Cavaliers on Monday, October 11. They started off the week with their first win, they went into a great battle during overtime. Ending the game with a win of 2-1.

On Wednesday, October 13, the ‘Rines hosted Magruder High School Colonels. They kept the score close, but the game ended with a loss.

Junior varsity will play their last game for the season tonight against Damascus High School Hornets. Make sure to come to support our ‘Rines at home, the game starts at 5:30.

Varsity started their week off against the Cavaliers on Monday, October 11. Unfortunately, the night ended with a loss.

On Wednesday, October 13, the lady ‘Rines fought hard against the Colonels, but the night ended in a hard loss.

Make sure to come out and support Varsity as they host Damascus High School Hornets, tonight at 6:30.
