Lady Wolverines basketball looks to show their claws against the Gaithersburg Trojans tonight at 7:15 at home after knocking the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles out of their nest on Tuesday.

In the Lady ‘Rines’ latest game against the Screamin’ Eagles, the Lady Wolverines outplayed and outclassed the Seneca Valley to a score of 43-25, bringing their record up to 2-5.  The Lady Wolverines still have work to do, but every winning streak starts with just one victory.

The Lady Wolverines attribute this success to their correct execution of the plays and more communication.

Junior forward Shawna Mcdougall said that the Lady ‘Rines’ coach Dinita Adams added new components to their game. “We learned a new press,we learned a new defense zone, we learned a new play and she wanted us to use [them],” Mcdougall said.

The Seneca Valley game was a much needed win after a devastating loss on January 8 to the Poolesville Falcons, 26-67.

The girls were enthusiastic going into the Poolesville game, but unfortunately it did not go as planned. The girls were overpowered and outplayed throughout the game, with the Falcons swooping in and exploiting every weakness in the ‘Rines defense or offense that they could see.

“We had trouble with our defense and we had trouble starting up our offense,” Mcdougall added about the Poolesville game. “Even though the girls were really tall, [nobody was] really afraid to go up against them, we got rebounds. We played the best we could. We didn’t just give up.”

Come out to the Lady Wolverine’s next game tipping off against the Gaithersburg Trojans tonight on our home court at 7:15pm. Orange Nation, let’s show the force!
