This article is a dedication to all Watkins Mill queens. I won’t be able to name every single one, but here are some of the ladies that helped me really get through life.

Let’s begin with Mrs. Torres-Meriwether. When I’m with her, I know for a fact that God is a woman. Watkins Mill is one of the only schools that provides students with the chance to make up lost credits. She is the head of this whole operation. I am honored to be under the wing of an amazing woman like her. Watching her consistently try to make the future bright for students is inspiring.

Next is Ms. Davis Vaughan. This woman is beyond stylish. She has an amazing fashion sense and an amazing heart. She’s my go-to for advice. It’s easy to confide in her because she is an open-minded person. Every student she has taught boasts about her. She’s taught me to look at things from a different perspective rather than living in my own head.

Can’t forget about Dr. Chakrabarti. She literally reminds me of my own mom, which is probably why I have so much respect for her. She’s also very stylish, her unlimited matching sets go crazy. Dr. Chakrabarti had a rough upbringing, but the strong woman that she became is truly inspiring. She taught me to never settle for less.

Next is Mrs. Nelson. She’s underrated due to the fact that she’s new, but believe me when I say she’s my best friend. I talk to her like I’ve known her for ten years, it’s actually crazy. She’s helped me with my people skills. She taught me that I have to listen to my brain before my heart or else I will lose every time. Acting off of emotion limits my cool points.

Couldn’t forget Mrs. Mitton. She’s a strong woman who basically controls our media center. She provides kids a space to catch up on makeup work, print and read. She’s also my personal therapist and is great at giving advice.

Saving the best for last, it’s Mrs. Confino, the woman who started it all. She is the only reason why I started writing. During my freshman year, she made sure that I enrolled in her newspaper class. She saw potential in me before I did. I had no clue I would be successful in this class, but I was. She also feeds me and makes sure my mental health is prevailing. I’m beyond thankful for her.

When I graduate and become famous, I will for sure remember that these women helped shape me and the iconic person I am.
