Boys  Varsity Basketball:

The Watkins Mill boys basketball team toppled the Clarksburg Coyotes on Friday December 16. The ‘Rines keep their momentum after beating Thomas Johnson on Wednesday. In a huge Montgomery County rivalry, the ‘Rines silenced the Coyote howl, 67-53.

The team got out to a hot start building double-digit lead on Clarksburg early, which helped them to ride the wave of momentum until the end. Senior guard Jamie Castillo said, “The bench picked up the energy and defensively everyone was talking.”

Come out to see the boys extend their winning streak at home against Walter Johnson tonight at 7:15.

Girls Varsity Basketball:

The Watkins Mill girls basketball team faced a tough loss against the Clarksburg Coyotes on Friday with a losing score of 50-22.

Senior captain Princess Frazier said, “We were able to use our energy to quickly move up and down the court.” Although the Wolverines lost, they plan on working on not letting their head hang low. The ‘Rines are will be working hard, ready f to prepare for a rematch against Clarksburg on Tuesday, February 9.

The ‘Rines next game is tonight, away at Walter Johnson. Go ‘Rines!

Swim and Dive:

The swimming Wolverines fell to the Northwood Gladiators after a tough battle at the Gaithersburg Aquatic Center. Sophomore Anis Gibri a clinched a last second win in the 500 yard free. The ‘Rines hope to bounce back on Saturday January 6, 2018 in a tri-meet the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles and the Kennedy Cavaliers. Be sure to go out and support your swim and dive team!
