As a result of the inclement weather that we’ve had over the past two weeks, ‘Rines softball looked to take down the Damascus Hornets last Wednesday, May 3 in a game that was originally scheduled for April 24. In a game against the Blake Bengals on Thursday, April 27, the ‘Rines came out firing on all cylinders offensively, but weren’t able to hold the Bengals defensively. The team fought all game to try and keep up with Blake, but ended up losing by a final score of 26-10. “It felt good because it was a good game, we were accomplishing something,” Moody added.

Softball played two tough games in a three day period, facing the Magruder Colonels on Thursday, April 20 and the Bethesda-Chevy-Chase Barons on Tuesday, April 18. Although the team battled against both teams, they weren’t able to leave either with a win, losing 15-2 to Magruder and 16-3 to BCC.
“We struggle with remembering the basics…we try and play ahead of ourselves…which causes us not to play to our full potential,” Moody said.
The ‘Rines seeked to conquer the Seneca Valley ‘Screamin Eagles and the Poolesville Falcons on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4 and 5. Even with the determination of the team, they weren’t able to pick up a win on either occasion, losing 17-1 against Seneca Valley and 23-2 to Poolesville.
