Holding a knife in one hand and a passion for flavor in the other, senior Cameron Jones turns mere ingredients into unforgettable foods with rich flavor and taste like no other.
With a skill that changes lives through taste and yumminess, Jones’ techniques shine in his business, Cam’s Cuisine. Here you’ll find his famous dishes of fried chicken sandwiches, tres leches, and chicken hibachi with fried rice.
Jones’ journey to the kitchen wasn’t always smooth.
“The reason I wanted to cook was [because] my mom said I couldn’t,” Jones said, “I couldn’t use the stove or anything like that, so I used to sneak it.”
At just 8 years old, Jones had begun settling in the kitchen and was determined to learn and practice cooking.
It wasn’t until his teenage years that a person would stand out to Jones the most: a friend, also named Cameron. Inspired by his friend’s food business, Jones remembered thinking, “If he can do that, I can do that,” which marked when Cam’s Cuisine was first born.
“A lot of people liked my food. I got good reviews, so I just kept doing it,” Jones said.
When asked about his favorite dishes, Jones said, “My favorite thing to make is jerk chicken. It’s seasoned and marinated from Jamaica,” as well as a dish many of his customers enjoy: mac and cheese.
For Jones, cooking isn’t all about watching videos and following recipes, it’s the uniqueness it holds. “I love the creativity about it. Everything I make is not the same. I can make one thing more spicy, and I can make one thing less,” Jones said.
From sneaking around in the kitchen to becoming the proud owner of Cam’s Cuisine, Jones’ story is filled with perseverance and passion. As his culinary journey continues to develop and grow, Jones serves as an example that with determination, dreams really can be cooked into reality.
