The Leaders in Progress Association is having a Clothes Drive starting December 5th and ending on December 15th to help homeless men and women during the winter.
LIPA is organizing a Clothes Drive at Watkins Mill High School for homeless people who are residents with Interfaith Works. LIPA will be collecting items beginning December 5th to December 15th. They will be taking not only clothes but also hygiene products. The collection will be prepared and delivered to Interfaith Works on December 19th at 3:30pm.
President and Co-founder of LIPA, Senior Emily Rivera said,“I believe the Clothes Drive is an excellent opportunity to engage with the community and to put [LIPA members’] leadership in practice…December is a month that is very cold, providing donations will allow us to bring joy and warmth, especially during the holiday season!”
LIPA is a club at WMHS that specializes in helping students focus on leadership skills for their future careers and in their community through services within school and our community.
“LIPA in my perspective is an interactive and resume-building club that not only allows you to strengthen your leadership skills in the community around you but also guides you to doing good for others, hence our ‘Do Good December’ and children’s book packages that our club assembled for elementary schoolers, through our Chick Fil A leadership academy,” Senior Nimaya Fernando, Vice President and Co-founder of LIPA said.
Interfaith Works is a non-profit that provides emergency shelter, essential needs, employment programs and supportive housing.
