Watkins Mill’s Theater Club is going to be performing an “Evening of One Acts” this fall from November 14th to 16th. This program will have a minimalist set.
The theater club will be performing four one act plays in one night. The plays will be simple to convey the actor’s talent. The plays are: “He said, She said,” “The Beggar and The King,” as well as two original student-written plays.
“He Said, She Said” is a comedic play set in the 1920s about how gossip can ruin a relationship. “The Beggar and The King” is a comedy about role reversal, in which a king is annoyed by a stubborn beggar asking for bread. One of the student written plays is about Generations X, Y, and Z trying to solve different problems but realizing that all of them are trying to solve the same problem. This play does not have a name yet.
Senior Cassidy Pranger, playing Diana from “He Said, She Said,” said, “I really like [the play], I think it’s really funny and entertaining, I like the story and [Diana is] a fun role to play.”
“I feel like…[The Beggar and The King is] going to turn out pretty good,” said Junior Adam Coleman playing the King from “The Beggar and The King.”
The production will be an hour and a half long. The play will be performed on November 14th and 15th at 7pm and on November 16th at 4pm. The tickets will be $3 for students and $5 for adults.
“It’s a really interesting show we have, with so many different types of one act plays. It gives [actors] an opportunity to try a lot of different things, and I think it’s a really great learning experience for everyone,” said Pranger.
