Lady ‘Rines lacrosse look to strip the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons of their title today at 5:45pm at Gaithersburg High School after going on a three-game winning streak beating Einstein, Kennedy and Rockville high schools.

“Our coach described it as war, because us and Rockville were very much on the same level,” senior Kayla McGinn said. The match up against the Rams on April 30 was hard fought. Each team scored goal after goal until the second half where they scored four goals.

“We pushed ourselves…we knew we were better,” McGinn added. “We really picked our heads up and battled Rockville.” McGinn said it was very intense and the ladies won 12-9.

On April 28, the ladies faced off against the Kennedy Cavaliers going to the game with the mindset of winning. And win is what they did, the ladies beat the Cavaliers with a score of 14-3.

The Lady ‘Rines faced off against the Einstein Titans on April 25. Senior Martina Carmona scored two goals, helping to the Lady ‘Rines to overthrow the Titans.   It was a great game all around, with the ‘Rines picking up a 16-3 victory, sparking a three-game winning streak.

“I think as a team we played really well, we had some key players make some key goals like [junior] Rachael Thompson and [senior] Martina Carmona. Both had some really nice goals,” senior Maddie White said.  “[Sophomore] Katherine Campbell played great and [senior] Lily Schlosser [did too].”  The Lady ‘Rines played aggressive on both sides of the ball.

“The rest of our schedule is looking pretty easy except for one team,” White added  “B-CC is going to be a challenge, but since we beat Northwest we think we have a very good shot at playing at least a very good game against them.” Looking into the future the girls look to finish their season with a winning record.
