Coed and boys volleyball hopes to knock Falcons out of nest today
Boys and coed volleyball look to face off against the Poolesville Falcons today at 5:30pm after playing a great game against the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles on Thursday. The boys lost 2-3, but coed won 3-1. The ‘Rines also played a well-fought game against the Damascus Hornets on April 15, but came up short and lost 0-3.
The coed team played a good game against the Screamin’ Eagles and look to carry the same energy into the game against the Titans. ” We are going to bring a lot of energy into this game, even though they have a lot of top players,” senior Kristel Galvez said. “We can still put up a fight.”
“We did pretty good,” senior captain Spring McCarthy said. “But in the first and second set we were dead, we didn’t have much energy.” The ‘Rines planned to kick it into full gear for all three sets against the Damascus Hornets.
“Our communication on the court was good, and getting the ball to the setter were better,” senior Delmi Dominguez said.
These improvements will lead the ‘Rines to strike a victory against the Poolesville Falcons “We are going somewhere where we weren’t last year and I’m extremely excited about it,” senior Eugene Orr-Turkes said. “Now that the team is in sync, it’s great.”
“I think we need to work on our fundamentals, passing, making smart plays and learn to play off instinct to keep the play alive,” freshmen Neba Ndonwi said.
“We need to improve on our energy to prolong throughout all three sets though,” Dominguez added.
“I love my coach,” senior Mary Washington Munjab said of coach Kauri Martin. “She keeps us on our feet and motivates us to be the best.”
The ‘Rines plan to put up a big fight against the number one team in the division. This game will be tough but the ‘Rines look to rise above. “Hopefully we can win a set or the whole game,” Orr-Turkes said.
