Sports Wrap Up: April 11-15

Athletic Department

The ‘Rines celebrated their senior night at the home meet on Thursday, April 13.

Welcome back everyone, hope you kept practicing your sports over spring break as spring sports are back! There are only a few weeks left in the season, so the ‘Rines are pushing to finish the year strong coming into the playoffs.

Girls Tennis

The Lady ‘Rines returned from break with a game against the Damascus Hornets on Tuesday, April 11, ending in a 6-1 loss.

The Lady ‘Rines continue their week today with an away game against the Northwood Gladiators. The game is free, so be sure to come out and support the Lady ‘Rines.

Boys Tennis

The ‘Rines opened their week with a game against the Damascus Hornets on Tuesday, April 11. The ‘Rines lost 5-2, their first loss of the season.

The ‘Rines continue their week with a home game today against the Northwood Gladiators. Come out and support their ‘Rines as they look to bounce back from their loss.

Track & Field

The ‘Rines hosted their senior night meet against the Poolesville Falcons on Thursday, April 13, and 23 ‘Rines finished on the podium of 22 different events.

  • Freshman Dynasty Brackenridge finished in second place in the 200 meter dash and third place in the 100 meter dash.
  • Freshman Hena Nazir finished in third place in the high jump.
  • Sophomore Angela Key-Barnes finished in second place in the shot put and third place in the discus.
  • Sophomore Sharick Mejias won the long jump and won the high jump.
  • Sophomore Kailey Meadows finished in third place in the triple jump.
  • Sophomore Madison Medley won the 100 meter hurdles, won the shot put, and won the discus.
  • Sophomore Seti Ouelega finished in second place in the 100 meter dash.
  • Sophomore Hasaan Nazir finished in second place in the 1600 meter run, third place in the long jump, and third place in the triple jump.
  • Sophomore Josh Holmes finished in third place in the 3200 meter run.
  • Sophomore Kamar Sutherland won the 110 meter hurdles and won the 300 meter hurdles.
  • Sophomore Ty’shaun Palmer finished in second place in the high jump.
  • Sophomore Robert Smith won the triple jump, finished in second place in the long jump, and third place in the 100 meter dash.
  • Sophomore Samuel Koiwood won the 100 meter dash and won the 200 meter dash.
  • Junior David Boley finished in second place in the 100 meter dash and third place in the 200 meter dash.
  • Junior Yanku Rex-Campbell won the 400 meter dash and won the 800 meter race.
  • Junior Elliot Swander finished in third place in the 400 meter dash.
  • Junior Rina Nasser finished in second place in the 100 meter hurdles.
  • Junior Kenny Onafuwa finished in third place in the 300 meter hurdles.
  • Senior Abdoul Ndiong won the discus.
  • Senior Michael Safo won the long jump, finished in second place in the triple jump, and finished in third place in the high jump.
  • Senior Esther Kouadio won the 100 meter dash.
  • Senior Ella Rishell won the 200 meter dash, won the 400 meter dash, finished in second place in the long jump, and second place in the triple jump.
  • Senior Melissa Osei-Bonsu won the triple jump, finished in third place in the 100 meter hurdles, and third place in the long jump.

Boys Lacrosse

The ‘Rines started their week with a trip to face the Screamin’ Eagles of Seneca Valley on Tuesday, April 11. The game ended in a 15-5 loss.

The ‘Rines continued their away trip with a game against Northwest Jaguars on Thursday, April 13, ending in a loss of 17-0.

Girls Lacrosse

The Lady ‘Rines came out of break strong with a 7-5 win on Tuesday, April 11 against the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles, their first of the season.

The Lady ‘Rines continued their week with a game at The Den against the Northwest Jaguars on Thursday, April 13. The game ended with a loss of 16-2.

Softball

The Lady ‘Rines began their week with a home game against the Damascus Hornets. The game ended in a 20-0 loss.

The Lady ‘Rines continue their week with an away trip to face the Northwest Jaguars today. Tickets are free, so come out and support the Lady ‘Rines.

The Lady ‘Rines also play tomorrow, April 15, against the Springbrook Blue Devils at home. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen as you come out to support the Lady ‘Rines.

Baseball

The ‘Rines opened their week with a game against the Damscus Hornets on Wednesday, April 12, ending in a 16-0 loss.

The ‘Rines continued their week with a game against the Poolesville Falcons on Thursday, April 13. The game ended in a loss of 8-0.

The ‘Rines will host the Springbrook Blue Devils tomorrow, April 15 at home. The game is free, so there’s no better way to spend a warm weekend than with some ‘Rines baseball.

Boys Volleyball

The ‘Rines played their first game of the week against the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles on Wednesday, April 12, ending in a 3-0 loss.

The ‘Rines bounced back against the Poolesville Falcons on Thursday, April 13, this time ending in a 3-2 win, bringing their record to three wins and two losses.

Coed Volleyball

The ‘Rines swept the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles to a 3-0 win on Wednesday, April 12.

The ‘Rines unfortunately fell against the Poolesville Falcons on Thursday, April 13, as the game ended in a 3-0 loss.
