Tri-M honors society will host X-Factor competition this Thursday
Do YOU have what it takes to make it on the X-Factor?
On Thursday, March 30 at 7 pm, WMHS will host its very own X-Factor competition in the Timothy O’Shea theater. All musical talents are welcome to show up and perform. You will have to pay five dollars at the door and everyone is welcome to show up and support. For anyone interested in performing, there is a QR code with the sign up plastered throughout the halls.
The event was organized by Modern Music Matters (Tri-M), which is a music honors society. Their goal is to support upcoming musicians and interest others into joining their community.
“Tri-M is equally about getting people into music as it is supporting musicians at our school that are already performing,” president of Tri-M and sophomore Nicholas Gonzalez said.
Inspired by the United Kingdom’s show “X-Factor” and the fact that March is ‘music in our schools’ month, Tri-M set out to do something every week of the month.
During the first week, they created a board honoring decades of musical history outside the auditorium. In the following weeks, they held a spirit week and played music in the mixing bowl. Thursday’s X-Factor is their culminating event for the month.
“When I was making the calendar, I was thinking, ‘what is a way to end this month with a bang,’” Gonzalez said. “What came to mind was a talent show, but since it’s Tri-M it couldn’t be a regular talent show.”
So that talent show at Watkins Mill on Thursday at 7 pm. Be sure to show up and support. There are many talents hidden within our school and they’d love to share them with our community. After the show, come back here and let us know how it was in the comments.
See you there!
Your donation will support the student journalists of Watkins Mill High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.

The talent show was amazing!
I sang “Killing Me Softly”.
I did this as a tribute to the great Luther Vandross.
It was written by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox in 1972.
