Sports Wrap-Up: December 3-9
Welcome back ‘Rines to another exciting season of Watkins Mill athletics. This season we can enjoy basketball games, wrestling matches, bocce matches, swim meets, and indoor track meets all the way through February. Make sure to keep the stands packed this season so we can R.A.I.S.E our teams to success.
Swim
The swim team “kicked off” their season with a scrimmage at the Olney Swim Complex against the Northwood Gladiators last Saturday, December 3.
Girls Basketball
The Lady ‘Rines tipped off for the first home game of the season against the Walter Johnson Wildcats. Unfortunately, the game ended in a loss of 62-11.
The Lady ‘Rines play their second consecutive home game tonight at 7:15 pm, so don’t miss the game by buying your ticket on GoFan.
Boys Basketball
The ‘Rines started their season off with a trip to the home of the Walter Johnson Wildcats. The game ended in a tough 71-35 loss.
The ‘Rines continue their streak of away games tonight with a trip to face off against the Gaithersburg Trojans. Buy tickets on GoFan to help support the ‘Rines.
Wrestling
The ‘Rines started their first match against the Magruder Colonels on Wednesday, December 7. The match ended in an unfortunate 72-12 loss.
Indoor Track
The ‘Rines competed in the first meet of the season on Tuesday, December 6.
- Sophomore Samuel Koiwood finished in second place in the 55 meter run.
- Junior David Boley finished in seventh place in the 55 meter run.
- Sophomore Kamar Sutherland finished in third place in the 55 meter hurdles.
- Senior Michael Safo finished in ninth place in the long jump.
- Junior Yanku Rex Campbell finished in ninth place in the 800 meter run.
- Senior Abdoul Ndiong finished in seventh place in the shot put.
- Senior Esther Kouadio finished in seventh place in the 55 meter run
- Sophomore Madison Medley finished second in the shot put.
