Sports Wrap-Up: May 9-12
Track and Field
A personal best from junior Ella Rishell pushed her to become the Montgomery County Public Schools Champion of the 400m dash. She also set a new personal best of 26.77 seconds in the 200m dash.
Sophomore Wilfredo Beltran set a season record in the 100m sprint with a time of 11.72 seconds.
With a time of 52.30 seconds, senior Joshua Derosier set a new personal best and finished tenth in the 400m dash. Derosier also set a personal best in the triple jump with 39-06.50.
Freshman Kamar Sutherland finished fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.07 seconds.
All of the qualifying athletes will continue to compete in the Regional Championship on Tuesday, May 17 and Wednesday, May 18.
Boys Lacrosse
The ‘Rines competed in the Regional Quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 11 against the Damascus Hornets. The game ended in a 19-1 loss, unfortunately eliminating the ‘Rines from the playoffs.
Congratulations to the team on a hard-fought season and good luck to all seniors in their post-high school endeavors.
Girls Lacrosse
The Lady ‘Rines competed in the Regional Quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 11 against the Springbrook Blue Devils, ending in a 7-2 loss. This means that the Lady ‘Rines are eliminated from the playoffs, but be sure to congratulate all of the players on a strong season and wish the seniors good luck in the future.
Softball
The Lady ‘Rines competed in the Regional Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 12 against the Kennedy Cavaliers. The game ended in a heartbreaking call that led to the Lady ‘Rines losing 17-15. Congratulations to the team for fighting to the end.
