Sports Wrap-Up: March 21-25
The spring sports season officially kicked off this Monday, March 21, with a slew of games in baseball, lacrosse, tennis, track, volleyball, and softball.
Girls Lacrosse
The Lady ‘Rines hosted the Magruder Colonels for their first game on Monday, March 21. The game ended with a loss of 15-5.
The Lady ‘Rines continued their busy first week with a doubleheader against the Rockville Rams, finishing with a tough loss of 12-3.
Boys Lacrosse
The ‘Rines started their season off with a trip to the home of the Magruder Colonels on Monday, March 21, ending with a tough loss of 14-1.
The ‘Rines continued the doubleheader with a match against the Rockville Rams. Fighting through heavy rains the match ended early due to a mutual agreement between the refs and coaches deeming the weather unsafe to play in. The final score was a loss of 10-4.
Baseball
The ‘Rines’ game against the Wootton Patriots on Wednesday, March 23, was postponed due to weather and changed to Saturday, March 26 at 1:30 pm.
The ‘Rines will host their second match against the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles at 3:45 pm today, make sure to come out and support the team.
Softball
The Lady ‘Rines’ match against the Wootton Patriots on Thursday, March 24 was postponed and moved to Saturday, March 26 at 10 am.
The Lady ‘Rines go to bat today at 3:45 pm against the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles, come out to the bleachers and show school spirit.
The ‘Rines hosted the Wheaton Knights on Thursday, March 24 for their first allied softball game of the season. The match ended in a big win for the ‘Rines, who start their season off 1-0 (wins-losses).
Track & Field
The ‘Rines hosted their first meet against the Northwest Jaguars and Damascus Hornets on Wednesday, March 23. The boys ended with a tough loss of 102-31 against Northwest and a win against Damascus of 82-34. The girls ended with a loss of 112-13 against Northwest and a loss of 55-52 against Damascus.
Coed Volleyball
The ‘Rines hosted their first doubleheader of the season against the Gaithersburg Trojans on Wednesday, March 23. The game finished nail-biting 3-2 win.
The second doubleheader of the season is tonight against the Wheaton Knights, come out to Wheaton at 5:30 pm to cheer the team on.
Boys Volleyball
The ‘Rines continued the doubleheader against the Gaithersburg Trojans on Wednesday, March 23, completing the sweep with a 3-1 win.
The fun doesn’t stop with a second doubleheader tonight against the Wheaton Knights at 7 pm, don’t miss out.
Boys Tennis
The ‘Rines traveled to face the Magruder Colonels on Monday, March 21, ending a 7-0 win.
The ‘Rines are staying away for their second match of the season against the Wheaton Knights today at 3:30 pm.
Girls Tennis
The Lady ‘Rines hosted the Magruder Colonels on Monday, March 21, which ended in a 7-0 loss.
The Lady ‘Rines continued their home streak with a game against the Wheaton Knights today at 3:30 pm.
