Sports Wrap-Up: January 28 – February 4
Swim and Dive
The ‘Rines went up against Northwood Gladiators on Saturday, January 29. The meet ended in a tough loss of 207-104. Congratulations to captain senior Marley Hammond, junior Deacon Buchanan, sophomore Dmitriy Bright, sophomore Jarod Andwele Naulgan, and the boys 200 medley relay for making their Metro cuts.
The ‘Rines will be competing at the Division 4 Championship tomorrow, February 5. Make sure to cheer them on at the Olney Indoor Swim Center at 8 am as they take on many schools in their division.
Boys Varsity Basketball
Varsity ended last week with a postponement against the Damascus High School Hornets, which has been rescheduled to tomorrow, February 5. Support the ‘Rines as they play away at 10 am.
Varsity started this week off on January 31 with a 71-46 loss against the Quince Orchard High School Cougars. Unfortunately, 17 points with seven rebounds for senior Devin Brackenridge was not enough for the ‘Rines to leave with a win.
Varsity’s week continued with a 77-49 loss against the Paint Branch High School Panthers on February 2.
Varsity’s final game of the week is against the Northwood High School Gladiators tonight at 5:30 pm. Spectators are allowed back in the stands, so make sure to come celebrate Senior Night.
Boys JV Basketball
JV’s game against the Damascus High School Hornets will not be rescheduled.
JV’s final game of the season came against the Quince Orchard High School Cougars, ending in a 55-24 loss.
Be sure to congratulate all of JV’s players on a hard-fought season!
Girls Basketball
The Lady ‘Rines’ game against the Damascus Hornets scheduled for tomorrow is being postponed.
The Lady ‘Rines’ game against Quince Orchard High School on January 31 ended in a 47-9 loss.
The third game of the week for the Lady ‘Rines was against the Paint Branch Panthers, resulting in a 49-21 loss.
The next game in a busy week is against the Northwood High School Gladiators tonight at 7:15pm. Tonight is Senior Night so make sure to come out and celebrate our senior Lady ‘Rines.
Wrestling
The ‘Rines wrestled against the Rockville Rams and the Poolesville Falcons on January 29, but fell in a 57-9 and 63-12 loss respectively.
The third game of the week was against Richard Montgomery High School on February 1, which ended with a 6-0 forfeit. The ‘Rines final game of the season came against the Northwest High School Jaguars, resulting in a 6-0 forfeit.
