Sports Wrap-Up: October 22-29
Volleyball
Varsity started the week off traveling to take on Blake High School on Monday, October 25. The game ended win a tough loss. Varsity then hosted the Springbrook Blue Devils on Tuesday, October 26 for their last regular season game. They also had their dig pink ceremony for breast cancer awareness month. The game ended with a loss.
Football
Junior varsity played against the Magruder Colonels on Friday, October 22. The game ended in a 32-22 victory, meaning that JV has now won two games straight. JV played their last game against the Paint Branch Panthers on Thursday, October 28, ending in a 56-8 loss. Their final record for the season is 2-6 (win-loss).
Varsity also played against the Colonels on Friday, October 22, but lost 26-11. An early touchdown from running back Brian Awisome wasn’t enough for the ‘Rines to get the win.
Varsity will finish their regular season with a game away against the Paint Branch Panthers tonight. Be sure to cheer our ‘Rines on for their last game before the playoffs.
Field Hockey
Varsity found out how they were going to start their season’s playoff. The lady ‘Rines are the #3 seed in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association state tournament. They have been given the bye and are headed straight for the regional semifinals where they will play the #2 seed Springbrook High School Blue Devils on Monday, November 1 at 6 pm.
Make sure to come out and support the lady ‘Rines.
Boys Soccer
On Monday, October 25, varsity found out their schedule for this season’s playoff push. In the first round, they were set to play against the Damascus Hornets on Wednesday, October 27. However, the game ended 4-0 in favor of the Hornets. Make sure to congratulate varsity on a great season.
Girls Soccer
Varsity’s playoff schedule was released on Monday, October 25. They drew the Damascus Hornets in the quarterfinals and the game was played on Wednesday, October 27. The game ended in a 10-0 loss. If you see the varsity players, make sure to congratulate them a hard-fought season.
