Local auto shop gives generously to Watkins Mill community with Holiday Wish project.

A local auto shop is partnering with Watkins Mill High School this holiday season to provide gifts to families in need throughout the WMHS community. The gifts are provided through an annual winter program called Holiday Wish.

Airpark Auto Pros’ partnership with Watkins Mill began on November 27 and will be taking donations all the way through December 31, so Watkins Mill can continue to give to families even after the holiday season comes to an end.

“As we [Airpark Auto Pros] thought about what we could do and organizations we could support, there was a strong sense of wanting to be hyper local,” owner of Airpark Auto Pros John Burley said. “People right here in the Gaithersburg area have practical needs and the need to know that they are loved and people care about them.” Burley’s daughter is a senior at Watkins Mill.

Gift donations can be made through the Airpark Auto Pros website, directly at the shop, or customers can get a vehicle serviced at Airpark Auto Pros. All donations will be doubled by the shop. If you get your car serviced, the shop will donate an additional $5 to the families of Watkins Mill through Holiday Wish.

Donations this year include any type of gift card which can be delivered to families over the holidays, such as $25 to Target, Walmart, or Amazon. Suggested amounts are $13 to $25. Donations can also be made towards a special gift. To maximize safety, no physical gift donations can be made this holiday season and all customers getting a vehicle serviced will be provided with a no-contact service. All donations made will be given directly to Watkins Mill to distribute to local families.

Airpark Auto Pros plans to undertake Holiday Wish every winter season and support a different outreach organization each year, but still hopes to partner with Watkins Mill again in 2021.

“The desire to give, support, or do something helpful was just natural. It was automatic,” Burley added. “We want to be a giving organization and have a culture of generosity, so it just threads through what we do and who we strive to be.”

Donations can be made at Airpark Auto Pros, 8025 Snouffer School Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20879 or online at airparkautopros.com/holidaywish
