Sports Wrap-Up: February 7-13
Boys Basketball
The boys continued their win streak against Northwood High School on Friday, February 7 with the final score of 62-55. Junior Sidney Lebonzo led the team in scoring with 27 points and senior Jordan Holland added 17 points.
The team lost a tough fought match-up against Quince Orchard High School on Tuesday, February 11 with the final score of 72-57, ending their four game win streak. “Us having multiple turnovers cost us the game so we just have to work on that,” senior Mamadou Ndiong said.
The team looks to bounce back and win the division tonight at 7:15 against Whitman High School.
The boys play on Tuesday, February 18 at home for their senior night and last regular-season game against Clarksburg High School.
Girls Basketball
The Watkins Mill High School Wolverines played the Northwood High School Gladiators on February 7 but lost a hard-fought game by 75-68. On February 11, they suffered another tough loss against the Quince Orchard High School Cougars; the game ended with a final score of 82-24.
The girls hope to bounce back on Tuesday, February 18 at home for their senior night and last regular-season game against Clarksburg High School.
Wrestling
The wrestling team suffered a hard-fought loss to Albert Einstein High School’s Titans on Saturday, February 8 but still celebrated their seniors in their senior night match. Senior captain Victor Kum pinned his opponent in 36 seconds. Junior captain Seda Tsarni pinned her opponent after a hard-fought 3-minute match.
