Sports Wrap-Up October 4
Boys Soccer
‘Rines boys soccer looked to take down the Magruder Colonels last night, October 3. The team was coming off a tough loss to the Damascus Hornets and looked to rebound against the Colonels. Sadly, the team wasn’t able to prevail, getting shut-out by the Colonels, losing 0-2. The team will be taking on the Rockville Rams this coming Monday, October 9, so look for them to come out strong as they seek to pick up their fifth win on the season.
Girls Soccer
The Wolverines girls soccer lost a tough game to the Magruder Colonels losing 5-1. The ‘Rines came into the game with tons of energy and scored the first goal in the first five minutes. “We can compete against these teams we just need to work together,” senior captain Megan Dakwa said. Girls soccer will be home next week for a varsity doubleheader and hope to crush the Rockville Rams on Monday, October 9 at 5:15.
Girls Volleyball
Volleyball lost 3-0 to Damascus Hornets last night at the teams ‘Dig Pink’ game but look to comeback with a win tomorrow Thursday, October 4, against Clarksburg Coyotes. The team fought hard all night, leaving many ‘Rines proud of their gameplay.
“Despite the lost, the turnout was great. Many people came out and supported not only for volleyball but for the cause, ” volleyball manager Jennifer Porras said.
Girls Tennis
‘Rines tennis was defeated by the Richard Montgomery Rockets on Monday, October 2, but the ‘Rines came home proud because the Rocket team included one of Puerto Rico’s top players.
It was a tough loss, which left the girls motivated to work extremely hard for their last two games. “I need to work hard with my technique and getting the ball,” junior Josephine Oshagbemi said.
