Boys Soccer

‘Rines boy soccer took on the Seneca Valley Screamin’ Eagles here, at The Mill yesterday. The team was able to bounce back after a tough loss to the Northwood Gladiators last week, beating the Eagles 5-3. Senior Nelson Contreras and junior Fiifi Cann each scored one goal on the night, while senior Yann Kouemi scored three goals.

Martinez added ,”All we had to do was attack [last night], and we attacked well.”

The team looks to keep this same winning mentality in their next game this Friday, September 22 against the Blake Bengals at 6 pm. Contreras added that in order to beat the Bengals the team needs to have “more communication and trust [between] teammates.”

Field Hockey

Wolverines field hockey took on the Einstein Titans last night, September 18. Our ‘Rines were able to beat the Titans and shut out them out, winning 2-0. Seniors Angelina Walton and Katerina Molina each scored their first goal of their season.

“[Our game] went really well. Overall, we played very well together and our passes were pretty great,” Molina said. The team hopes to take home a win this Wednesday, September 20, against the Thomas Johnson Patriots.

Golf

The ‘Rines golf team picked up their first win of the season in their match against Seneca Valley High School yesterday at Redgate Golf Course.

The ‘Rines had an excellent game against the Screamin’ Eagles, beating the team by eight strokes with star performances from everyone on the team to get the win.

Coach Richard Riley said, “It feels good to get the first win of the season. The small things we worked on in practice for the match really helped our team get the win.” The team faced the Screamin’ Eagles a few times this past season, and they were very excited to get the win this match.

The golf team’s next match is September 29 against Paint Branch High School, so come out and support Orange Nation.
