Another Friday night, and you’re in the house…but why? Get up, grab your phone, wallet, and coat stuffed with candy and head on down to any movie theater, because there are plenty of new releases, all of which are guaranteed to keep you entertained.

Coming to theaters this Friday is one of the most anticipated movies: Star Wars: The Force Awakens. After defeating the Galactic Empire, Han Solo and his allies must now defeat Kylo Ren and his Stormtroopers.

Freshman Zion Belinga said, “I didn’t think another movie would come out after the sixth movie. I am very intrigued by the trailer and excited for the movie. I want to see what Luke is currently doing in life. He’s my favorite because he’s the son of Darth Vader and chose to be good, not evil.”

For anyone who isn’t trying to wait in line for Star WarsSisters is also being released this Friday.  This one is about two sisters who go back to their childhood home to find out that it’s currently on the market, so they decide to throw a party to reunite with former classmates and reminiscence the old days. However, the party becomes too wild and they realize there might not be any chance to sell the home.

Sophomore Brittany Damba said, “I had a party once with my cousin… and it didn’t go so well, so I hope to see what happens in Sisters.”

In Ride Along 2, coming out January 15, James and Ben go to Miami to investigate a case involving a mysterious man named Serge Pope. Still trying to prove himself to James, Ben hopes the case will run smoothly as they team up with a detective named Maya.

“Since the first [Ride Along], I’ve wanted to see another,” sophomore Abigail Mundle said. “I want to know if Ben gets married and is able to stay in the police academy.”

Daddy’s Home, coming out on Christmas Day, is about a stepfather who wishes to win over his wife’s two children.  He runs into obstacles when his wife’s ex-husband rolls into town, however, and they must compete over the family’s affection. “I want to see if the step-dad wins over the kids and if the mom realizes he’s good for the family,” junior Richard Lee said.

Or if you want to see a movie that is already out and less crowded, try the holiday horror, Krampus. The movie is based off ancient European folklore that warns children of Krampus, a horned beast and helper of Santa who visits troublesome children at Christmastime.

The movie focuses on a dysfunctional family who begins to clash which leads to Krampus paying a terrible visit. “ I want to see if the family will overcome Krampus, and regain the Christmas spirit, of joy, and love. I also want to know if they are the only people that Krampus will visit on Christmas,” junior Eurca Kane said.

Happy movie viewing!
