The Montgomery Village Foundation will be hiring a student representative to the MVF Board of Directors. Applications are available to all high school juniors who meet the criteria.

“We are looking for a student who wants to get involved in the community, shares pride in the Village and can be a great liaison between the school, students and MVF Board of Directors,” Michael Conroy, Board of Directors Corporate Secretary, said.

“The Student Representative will be a non-voting member of the MVF Board of Directors,”  Conroy added. “They will be encouraged to share in Board discussions regarding MVF policies.”

These policies include architectural criteria, bids and contracts for services, financial management, maintenance of MVF-owned property and monitoring government and other activity affecting the quality of life for Montgomery Village residents.

Adding the perspective of our community’s youth will be helpful as we discuss the needs and challenges for Montgomery Village,” MVF President Pete Young said.

“During the summer internship, the representative will work with each department to obtain a better understanding of how MVF works on behalf of the residents,” Conroy added.

It is hoped that through the summer internship the student will gain experience from working with a board of directors and learn how a business operates. This will also provide the student with useful skills that can be used in a professional setting.

“The right candidate will have a positive attitude and will contribute to conversation on MVF Board matters, sharing their knowledge and experience to help effect change,” Conroy said. “I would strongly suggest looking at the time commitment and talking with parents/guardians to make sure it fits in your schedule.”

“I believe that the Board will be pleasantly surprised at the amount and level of input we receive from the Student Intern,” Vice President Glenn Gargan said. “We fully anticipate and welcome a breath of fresh air with this addition.”

Applications are available in the counseling office or on the MVF website. The application must be completed by 5pm on Friday, January 26, 2018. They can be either mailed or hand-delivered to the MVF office. For any further questions, visit the MVF website or stop by the MVF office.
