Boys Soccer looks to run over the Clarksburg Coyotes tonight after a 4-1 victory over the Rockville Rams.

The victory against Rockville gave the boys the division title and a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

Missing five starters and trying to bounce back from Blake, the boys beat rival Magruder 1-0. The game was intense and close. Both defenses stopped the opposing offense in the first half. In the shootout before Magruder, the boys suffered their first loss of the season to the Blake Bengals team.

Junior varsity players had to step up and replace the missing starters. With about ten minutes remaining, senior Walter Gomez scored an amazing goal from a free kick. The crowd was ecstatic as this was a huge divisional win.

The boys played a magnificent game but some bad calls cost them the game 2-1.

“We played good defense in the first half,” senior Jojo Cann said. “We got angry and lost our heads, [which contributed to the loss].” Senior Gianfranco Castillon scored the lone goal.

On September 28 the boys faced the Sherwood Warriors. They won big with a score of 3-0. “We all played as a team and didn’t make many mistakes,” senior goalie Eddie Huebner said about the win. Huebner and his defense recorded their third shutout of the season.

The goals were scored by Cann, senior Daniel Juresic, and a eye dropping goal by junior Yann Kouemi. “We enjoyed the game and felt like everyone was getting involved,” Cann said.

The boys faced the Paint Branch Panthers on September 22 and won that 3-0. The boys continued their near flawless play and great defense. Goals were scored by Juresic, Cann, and Castillon. Huebner continued to deny opposing strikers and again allowed no goals.

The boys faced the Wheaton Knights on September 20. The boys won the game 2-1. Although the score was close, the battle on the field was controlled by the ‘Rines. Goals were scored by Kouemi, and senior Walter Gomez. “We passed and communicated very well,” senior Victor D’almeida said.

As boys soccer continues their fearsome season, continue to come out and support. They will be needing us as they progress through the playoffs.
